Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for details.
An important political figure stated the incident left him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
