Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He defended 4 early break points in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
