The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration About Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Reaction

Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Stories

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
